Author's Notes on
Sororal Lineality 05: Kyber

It really shouldn't have taken me three years (even with my breakdown of the year by the WIPs) to write 3169 words. Though I have no idea with my current health issues if I can push out more words faster, even if it feels like I should. Oh, there is a tyranny of shoulds right there. I would like to write more and faster to get more stories out of my head, but there are no deadlines assigned to any of it. I write for the love of it and it reduces my stress to tell stories. So no shoulds about any of my writing allowed.

I started writing Kyber on October 27, 2024. The two months I gave to Star Wars WIPs were May and October. After finishing Rescue the Farmboy: Mission on Mimban, I started rereading Shadows of the Empire since I plan on using some of it in this series. Once that was done, I started on Kyber and the month finished before I finished a draft of this story.

It was the first project I picked up in 2025's Star Wars WIPs period, which was still two months but I put the months together this year. So I got the first draft finished on April 13, 2025, and moved onto figuring out Rescue the Farmboy: Extrication's plot. I'm still not sure if I have that figured out, but my mother ending up in the hospital on August 1st and her death on September 12th upended my whole year.

I wish that was the end of everything getting upended but 2026 decided to increase the ante: March 17, my therapist made my burnout an official diagnosis. I dropped all writing to prioritize rest and then slowly reintroduce my WIPs. So I finished all the edits on April 6, 2026. And since nothing else was ready, I posted Kyber for May the Fourth be with you, 2026. The previous plan was to release the short stories in between the novels, but now I don't know when I'm actually finishing a novel so I'm not holding them back. Hope you enjoy this story.
